Football: Get ready for the battle of Woodland Hills

Share

Break out the surfboards. It’s the Red Zone vs. The M.E.S.S.

It’s the battle for supremacy in Woodland Hills on Friday, when Taft hosts El Camino Real in a West Valley League football game.

Taft (4-3, 2-0) has won three consecutive games. Linebacker Damonn Wiggins came through with nearly 20 tackles in a 40-6 win over Chatsworth last week. Quarterback Chris Duncan passed for five touchdowns.

“We went back to basics,” Coach Deron Braswell said.

El Camino Real (5-2, 1-1) is coming off a 35-22 win over Granada Hills. Adam Blythe has passed for 1,513 yards and 12 touchdowns.

There’s no official mayor of Woodland Hills (it’s part of Los Angeles), but in an election year, there should be some politician wanting to be seen in a packed Taft stadium.

And maybe at Zuma Beach, the surfers from Woodland Hills will have plenty to say.
