Football: Loyola’s David Long is getting ready for his moment in the spotlight

Share

When the summer is over, a lot of people will know about David Long, a junior cornerback at Loyola who has begun to attract the attention of college recruiters in the Pac-12 and elsewhere.

Even though he still hasn’t earned a starting spot at cornerback, because the Cubs are loaded in the secondary, his ability and potential on and off the field have caused college recruiters from UCLA, Arizona State and Washington, among others, to begin pursuing him.

He has great grades, a strong work ethic and lots of athletic skills.

Loyola’s young secondary players are headed out on the college camp circuit hoping to make an impression, including Myles Bryant, Jordan Riordan and Daniel and David Tolbert.

Loyola’s No. 1 college prospect is senior defensive end Christian Rector, but there’s players in the secondary almost certain to receive college offers, led by Long.
