Peninsula has selected Palos Verdes defensive coordinator David Young as its new head coach.

The school fired Coach Mike Christensen, who failed to turn around a program that has been struggling with numbers on and off the field. The team had to forfeit its final three games for safety reasons this past season.

Young was Palos Verdes' defensive coordinator for eight years and helped Palos Verdes win two Southern Section championships.

He will take over pending final approval from the Board of Education.
