Michael Bonds, the starting quarterback at Newport Harbor last season, has transferred to St. Francis, where his uncle, Jim Bonds, is head coach.

Bonds is the son of former Hart and Cal Lutheran quarterback Tom Bonds, who is moving back into the area after a job move.

Bonds' arrival sets the stage for a tough competition for starting quarterback, since St. Francis returns starter Miles Bryant.
