Football: SoCal receivers have a big day for college teams

Former Southern California high school receivers were busy catching touchdowns and lots of passes on Saturday.

In the double-overtime California-Colorado game, Nelson Spruce (Westlake grad) set a school record with 19 catches for 176 yards and three tuchdowns for Colorado. Kenny Lawler (Upland), Bryce Treggs (St. John Bosco) and Chris Harper (Crespi) all caught TD catches for California, which won, 59-56.

In USC’s 35-10 win over Oregon State, Darreus Rogers (Carson) had a 48-yard touchdown catch. Ajene Harris (Crenshaw) caught three passes for 30 yards. Bryce Dixon (St. Bonaventure) caught two passes for 44 yards. For Oregon State, Richard Mullaney (Thousand Oaks) had five receptions for 78 yards.

For Washington State, River Cracraft (Santa Margarita) caught nine passes for 126 yards in a 28-27 win over Utah. Kaelin Clay (Long Beach Poly) had five catches for 65 yards for Utah.

Jaydon Mickens (Dorsey) had a touchdown catch in Washington’s 20-13 loss to Stanford. Francis Owusu (Oaks Christian) and Jeff Trojan (Edison) made catches for Stanford.

Jerico Richardson (Alemany) had two catches in Nevada’s 21-10 win over San Jose State.
