Sylmar is moving from City Section Division II to Division I this season in football, but the Spartans appear ready to be competitive.

Led by All-City quarterback Clarence Williams, the Spartans defeated Hart in the championship game of the Crescenta Valley seven on seven passing tournament on Saturday.

Receivers Marcus Gandy and Andrew Simpson and defensive back Malik Martin, all top returnees, made major contributions, Coach John Brazil said.
