Football: With 15 starters back, L.A. Wilson could be tough in Division III

Share

L.A. Wilson returns 15 starters this season, so Coach Eddie Martinez, in his 25th season, has high hopes of being a threat in City Section Division III. The biggest obstacle is lack of depth.

The versatile Isaac Abdullah is moving to quarterback after playing receiver last season. He’ll be helped by his younger brother, Isaiah, a 6-foot-3 sophomore who transferred from L.A. Salesian. He’ll be available in October after sitting out the opening month of the season.

All-City linebacker Gabriel Herrera has grown two inches to 6 feet, 200 pounds and will be the captain.

Running back Marcelino Roman was all-league last season.
