COLUMBUS - Gunner Kiel's departure didn't mean a step back for Columbus East this season. The Olympians are undefeated and ranked #1 in Class 4A.
Not missing a beat after the graduation of the current Notre Dame quarterback, Columbus East rolled to the Sectional 15 final with a 48-6 victory over Connersville at home Friday night.
Bob Gaddis' team now advances to the Sectional 15 final where they will face Franklin County at home after they beat Richmond 14-13.
The Olympians didn't take long to put themselves in the drivers seat as the blocked the first punt of the game by Connersville. Markell Jones helped the Olympians capitalize quickly as he took it in from three-yards out to make it 7-0.
After recovering an onside kick Columbus East reached the endzone again as Alex Cowan hit J.T. Voelker for a 30-yard touchdown to give the Olympians all the points they would need.
