The Kings’ season opener is exactly a week away, at Minnesota, and team captain Dustin Brown is optimistic he will be in the lineup at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Talking about the chances, Brown said, “If you ask me -- 100 percent. Barring no setbacks. If you ask me today, will I be playing in Minnesota? Yeah.”

Brown participated in his second session with the main group on Thursday, his first such outings since he suffered a hamstring injury on Sept. 12, the opening day of training camp.

He won’t travel with the team to Las Vegas on Thursday or play in Friday’s exhibition game, but said he would be a game-time decision for Saturday’s preseason game, also in Las Vegas.

Brown has had a dizzying 24 hours. His wife Nicole gave birth on Wednesday afternoon and all are doing well. The baby girl has yet to be named, he said, though one of his three sons has suggested, “Roger.”

Said Brown: “A 5-year-old’s imagination, I guess.”

The two baby-name contenders appear to be Ella and Mackenzie. Brown’s wife posted that they were going with Ella Rose, and the Kings twitter feed announced it as well. Apparently they decided to take more time with the decision.

“Kings will have to put out the typical, ‘Sorry my account has been hacked,’” Brown said jokingly.

They are stopping at four children, according to Brown.

“This is it. You can put that on the record,” he said. “I’m done.”
