They’re in this mess together

The Kings were back on the ice Wednesday morning at their practice facility in El Segundo, but not before they had a closed-door meeting with Coach Marc Crawford in the wake of their embarrassing 7-0 loss to Nashville the night before.

“I’ve been a player and when you play poorly, you expect something to be said,” Crawford said. “I don’t think anybody came here happy.”

The Kings gave up three goals in 75 seconds of the first period, falling behind first for the 13th time in 14 games.

After the third goal, Jason LaBarbera was replaced by J.S. Aubin -- the third time in the last seven games Crawford has had a quick hook for his goalkeeper -- but Aubin gave up four goals in 22 shots.

Kings defenseman Brad Stuart said every player needs to take responsibility for the Kings’ 11th loss in their last 14 games.

“I don’t think anybody in this room is singling anybody out,” he said. “We all need to look in the mirror and figure out what we need to do better.”

After playing only its second game in Anaheim in nine years Wednesday night, Toronto is making a rare appearance in Los Angeles. The Maple Leafs last played in L.A. in November 2003. Before that, their previous visit was during the 1997-98 season.
