Rythm And Pie looks for another strong outing

Rythm And Pie, a winner in a dead-heat on April 1, will try for her third win in her last five starts in the seventh race Thursday night at Los Alamitos.

Trained by Eloy Navarro for owner Luis Ramirez, the 3-year-old Red Hot Rhythm filly was one length clear of the rest of the field while finishing on even terms with Remarkable Eyesa – also in Thursday night’s race – as the 2-1 favorite last month.

Before that victory, Rythm And Pie, who lost the first three races of her career, defeated maidens Dec. 10, then was second and fourth in her next starts.

Carlos Bautista, the meet’s leading jockey, will ride the California bred and they will break from the outside post in the $15,600 allowance at 220 yards.

From the inside out, Rythm And Pie will be opposed by Tempting Winner, Princess Chloe, Dashin Nana, Magnificent Madison and Toby Tot.

Owned by trainer Felix Gonzalez, Remarkable Eyesa had won two in a row before finishing fourth in an allowance on April 21. She will be ridden by Saul Ramirez Jr.

The picks: 1. Pizza Pete. 2. Lip Trix. 3. Monday Silence. 4. Fsixteen. 5. Allaway. 6. Bcr Special Ending. 7. Rythm And Pie. 8. Devons Affair.

Four! An early pick four using Pizza Pete in the first, Lip Trix, Enthrone and Incredibly Fast in the second, St. Amand, Monday Silence and Huckleberry Blue in the third and Fsixteen and Hit It Hard in the fourth.

Shot in the dark: Lady Peggy Brown should improve with a race under her belt in the eighth race. Eddie Garcia will ride the 2-year-old Corona Cocktail filly for owner-breeder Ronnie Keller and trainer Blane Schvaneveldt in the $8,625 maiden contest at 300 yards.
