Holtville resident Wayne Cartee used a thingamagig to calculate the Monday Night Football matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers.
He ended up picking the Seahawks, 21-19 (40), much to his own dismay and it paid off.
The final score was 14-12 (26).
Cartee went 4-1, tied with another contestant, but gets the win with the MNF tiebreaker.
The long-time BTP participant, former champion and Local Content Editor Richard Brown nemesis benefited from the controversial call by the replacement referees not only gets him a win but also prevents the IVP staffers from getting their first win of the season.
IVP Marketing Consultant Sam Rice also went 4-1 but he incorrectly picked the MNF tiebreaker. Cartee was also tied with Marcos Zapata at 4-1 but Zapata picked 23-21 (44).
In this week’s picks — Holtville High will host Escondido Charter. In college football, Iowa State will host Texas Tech. In the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the San Diego Chargers, the N.Y. Giants will play at the Philadelphia Eagles and in the MNF game, the Dallas Cowboys will host the Chicago Bears.
