HOLTVILLE — The Southwest High boys’ soccer team outscored Holtville High, 4-0, in an Imperial Valley League match on Friday.

Moises Garcia scored two of those goals, while Vincent McNease and Alexis Leon had one apiece.

Southwest (7-8-6, 3-1-3 IVL) plays Palo Verde Valley High in Blythe at 5 p.m., Friday. Holtville (9-5-3, 2-2-1) plays at Calexico High on Tuesday, at 6 p.m.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Spartans beat ’Jackets, 16-1

The Central Union High girls’ soccer team overwhelmed Palo Verde Valley High, 16-1, in an Imperial Valley League match on Friday in El Centro.

For the Spartans, Paulina Pantoja and Dana McClurg each booted three goals; Samantha Alvarado scored two; and Valeria Corona, Desiree Estrada, Bailey Larson, Jourdan Quiroz, Yisera Sepulveda, Alondra Telles, Bailee Vincent, and Karen Zavala all scored once.

Central (10-1-3, 6-0-1) travels to take on Imperial High at 5 p.m., Tuesday.

Eagles defeat Vikings, 3-0

The Southwest High girls’ soccer squad shut out Holtville High, 3-0, in an Imperial Valley League match on Friday in El Centro.

Larissa Lizarraga, Sabrina Rosas, and Jackie Mendez all scored goals and credit for the shutout goes to goalie Alyssa Vingochea.

The Eagles (7-7-1, 2-4-1 IVL) travel to Blythe on Friday to play Palo Verde Valley at 3:15 p.m. The Vikings (10-7, 4-3 IVL) will host Central Union on the same day and play at 5 p.m.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Spartans repel Vikings, 56-27

The Central Union High boys’ basketball squad defeated Holtville High, 56-27, in a nonleague game on Friday in El Centro.

Top scorers for the Spartans were Luis Vizcaino with 20 points and Jakob Salgado with 11.

Central (11-7, 1-0 IVL) travels to play Southwest High at 7:00 p.m., Friday. Holtville plays the same night at Calipatria High.

Tigers beat Calexico, 54-38

CALEXICO — The Imperial High boys' basketball team beat Calexico High, 54-38, in a nonleague game here Friday.
