BRAWLEY — The Southwest High girls’ squad beat Brawley Union High, 28-19, to win the Imperial Valley League title here Tuesday.
For the Eagles, Evalyn Cota led with 11 points and five steals. Paulina Calero had eight points and 10 rebounds; Maci Lerno came down with 17 rebounds.
The Eagles (20-6, 6-0 IVL) finish up tonight at Holtville High at 7 p.m., and Brawley (14-13, 3-3 IVL) will host Imperial High on Thursday.
Tigers swat Hornets, 48-30
IMPERIAL — The Imperial High girls’ basketball team downed Calipatria High, 48-30, in a Desert League game here Tuesday.
Karissa Peña led the charge for the Tigers with 12 points. Dezrah Van totaled 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Sarah Bendix scored eight points. For the Hornets, Valeria Tafoya had 16 points.
Imperial (6-0 DL) concludes its season at Brawley Union High on Thursday at 7 p.m., while Calipatria (3-3 DL) will travel to Central Union.
Vikings fall to Yellowjackets, 44-33
HOLTVILLE — The Holtville High girls' basketball team lost to Palo Verde Valley High, 44-33, in a Desert League game here Tuesday.
For the Vikings, Carly Brewer had eight points and four assists. Evelyn Velasco had six points. The Vikings host Southwest High at 7 p.m. today.

Tigers beat Hornets, 66-48, to clinch sole possession of Desert League title
CALIPATRIA — The Imperial High boys' basketball team finished the Deser League season undefeated after beating Calipatria High, 66-48, here Tuesday.
For the Tigers, Dajon Staton had 26 points, three rebounds and two steals. Azael Castro had 12 points, two rebounds and one steal. Chris Carter had nine points, two rebounds and six assists. Dexter Bell had seven points, 11 rebounds and one assist.
Imperial (18-7, 6-0 DL) will host Brawley Union High at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Southwest High boys' basketball team Brawley Union High, 58-56, in an Imperial Valley League game Tuesday in El Centro.
For the Eagles, Chris Arambula had 18 points. Rick Cesena had 15 points. Eddie Romero and Brandon Martinez had eight points each.
For the Wildcats, Hunter Wharton and Bryce Alexander had 16 points each.
