Quick and Budaj combine for 17 saves in Kings’ 2-1 win over Colorado

Jonathan Quick and Peter Budaj combined to make 17 saves in the Kings’ 2-1 shootout victory Sunday over the Colorado Avalanche in an exhibition.

Quick stopped 10 of 11 shots in the first two periods, and Budaj made seven saves in the third and overtime.

Tanner Pearson and Dustin Brown scored in the shootout for the Kings, and Gabriel Landeskog scored for Colorado.

The Kings’ Michael Mersch scored in the first period, and Tyson Barrie tied it in the second.

Kings defensemen Jake Muzzin and Matt Greene suffered upper-body injuries and both will be re-evaluated on Monday. Muzzin was hurt in the first period and did not return.

Greene, playing in the preseason for the first time, was on the bench but did not play the third period or in overtime.
