SAN DIEGO—A worker at Qualcomm Stadium died at a local hospital after falling out of the press box about three hours before the Denver Broncos played the San Diego Chargers.
The San Diego Chargers confirmed Tuesday morning that Walt Daniels died from his injuries.
Daniels is a long-time Chargers game-day employee, according to a news release from the team. ESPN reported that he is in his 60s.
"He was breathing with a pulse and a heartbeat when he left the stadium," Bill Johnston, a Chargers official, told ESPN. "We're waiting on further word."
Workers later cleaned up a puddle of blood.
The accident delayed the opening of the gates by about 40 minutes.
