2007-10-02 13:02:14.0 Administrator2: Hi folks, and welcome to the Lakers Chat! Welcome Andrew and Brian!

2007-10-02 13:02:39.0 Brian Kamenetzky: Hey guys. Busy day.

2007-10-02 13:02:40.0 Brian Kamenetzky: Camp has started!

2007-10-02 13:02:55.0 theishy: What do you both think are the chances that this is the same roster we are holding after the trade deadline? Do you think there is ANY chance Kobe is wearing a new uniform come the beginning of March?

2007-10-02 13:03:27.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Hey everyone

2007-10-02 13:03:40.0 Brian Kamenetzky: theishy- Regarding Kobe, I’d say no, there’s no chance he’ll be wearing another uni by March...

2007-10-02 13:04:09.0 Brian Kamenetzky: ....with everyone else? Sure, there’s a chance they could make a move before the deadline. Kwame’s contract is an option, and Drew and LO will be involved in every rumor.

2007-10-02 13:04:13.0 doug: How does Vujacic look? Is he avoiding the media? Why haven’t I seen any updates about him on the front page of ESPN.com?

2007-10-02 13:05:49.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Doug - Sasha and Ric Bucher have a long standing feud, which kills his ESPN face time.

2007-10-02 13:05:57.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Just kiding.

2007-10-02 13:06:03.0 THINK: I saw Sasha a week ago he looked like Shaggy. I hope he shaved and had a cut.

2007-10-02 13:06:17.0 theishy: What are your thoughts on the “kobe effect” this year? Watching from afar, I got the sense that not very many players are particularly supporting Kobe anymore like the past few years. I read some of Luke’s comments, as well as Andrew’s, and they seem to have a tone that Kobe’s actions in fact are NOT being taken well by his teammates. I was particularly surprised by the apparent rift emanating from Luke’s comments. It doesnt seem like hes go Kobe’s back as much as in previous years. What was the sense that you got?

2007-10-02 13:06:55.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: All kidding aside, Sasha looked the same, except for some long hair. I chatted with him a few minutes and he was excited to start the season. BK and I also ran into him, Mihm and Elton Brown when we were grabbing something to eat after media day. On a rather random note.

2007-10-02 13:09:14.0 Brian Kamenetzky: theishy- I think guys were annoyed by it, sure. It’s hard not to be a little insulted by all of that went on. And while this will hang over their head as a team this year (adn possibly next) there’s not a whole lot that can be done. Everyone agreed, or at least said to the media, that this isn’t something they’ll sit down and hash out as a team. And I certainly wouldn’t worry about a Luke/Kobe rift- those guys both play hard, and do what they can to win. But how Kobe leads will be an issue, for sure. He’ll have to do some fence mending, even if it doesn’t include face to face apologies or similar.

2007-10-02 13:09:21.0 fabio: hello everyone,i’m a laker fan from ISRAEL.......i was happy about kobe comments on media day but my Q.....do you bealive him ? or you think he will get traded next summer?

2007-10-02 13:09:28.0 Brian Kamenetzky: His leadership skills are going to be tested, is basically what I’m getting at.

2007-10-02 13:10:50.0 Administrator2: Hey chatters-- if you’ve sent a question/comment and haven’t seen it appear yet, don’t worry-- just trying to give the Kamenetzkys time to type. Your questions aren’t lost and we haven’t forgotten about you! :)

2007-10-02 13:11:38.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Fabio - Like I said in our blog post of Kobe’s interview, I don’t think Kobe is thrilled with his situation, nor did he really pretend to be. His comments reflected more of an acceptance and determination than any real optimism. I’m not even sure there’s much to “believe,” really. Unless you’re talking about something specific.

2007-10-02 13:11:45.0 Elle: What are the odds that Kwame will have a good season?

2007-10-02 13:12:50.0 theishy: Thanks Brian - do you think that is something that everyone will do? Do you think maybe Phil needs to also be part of getting everyone together? It seems like their chemistry was already strained last year, and that was even before the comments. Is that the sense that you got last year as well?

2007-10-02 13:12:56.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Fabio... As for him getting traded, I think it’ll have to do with how the team does. If they perform very well, he might be more inclined to put aside whatever he felt (and is likely still feeling) and stick around. If it’s not a good season, I think he will get traded. I don’t think they’ll have much choice.

2007-10-02 13:13:53.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Outside of just letting him walk and taking the cap space, but I’d be surprised if that was the approach.

2007-10-02 13:14:04.0 Brian Kamenetzky: Define good, Elle. If he stays healthy all season and can provide a consistent defensive presence, expanding on what he already does well (post D), that’s a start. But if you’re looking for big offense, it probably won’t ahppen.

2007-10-02 13:14:27.0 dp: hey k bros, is there a walking on egg shells feeling at camp?

2007-10-02 13:15:23.0 fabio: thank you very much for your time, this year is going to be the best lakers season since the SHAQ trade, they just need to stay healthy

2007-10-02 13:16:24.0 Elle: I mean did he finally learn how to catch a ball, does he have any drive? Did someone teach him how to dunk?

2007-10-02 13:16:43.0 Brian Kamenetzky: theishy- I think the chemistry problems had a lot to do with injuries and losing. That’ll keep people on edge. I think they can get away with not talking specifically about it, assuming what happens from here is constructive. Phil did say yesterday that he had asked players if it was something they thought needed to be specifically addressed, and the consensus was no. Whether that’s what he’s telling us just to let the story die, I can’t say for sure. But that’s what he said (we’ll have the audo, by the way, up ASAP)

2007-10-02 13:17:56.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: DP... Honestly, not really. To some degree, everyone always walks on eggshells around Kobe, so along those lines, it’s another day at the office. There were just more anticipation as to what he’d say regarding his happiness about being there. But it didn’t feel to me like palpable tension, if that’s what you’re asking

2007-10-02 13:18:03.0 generic_one: Hello, Brothers K. It’s raining up here in S-Town and I need some good news. Tell me, did Kwame happen to throw a cake at anyone? What kind was it? If he didn’t, who would you have liked him to throw a cake at?

2007-10-02 13:18:42.0 theishy: thanks! The blog is an amazing thing for us fans, getting us as much information as possible - but these chats are taking it to an even higher level - letting us get “inside” with the team - so thanks to both of you for these!!!!

2007-10-02 13:18:59.0 Brian Kamenetzky: No, but there were donuts on the media table afterwards, and I saw him eyeing them with that glint in his eye (haha).

2007-10-02 13:19:14.0 Lakers!!!: hey guys, whats the status on Lamar, K. Brown, and Andrew B, I hear they might not even play in preseason or be ready by the end of october?

2007-10-02 13:20:36.0 dp: thanks ak , I am getting the feeling there is some uneasiness and lack of direction behind the scenes with this team, would that be fair to say? Like two camps within the Lakers org

2007-10-02 13:21:08.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Lamar is still getting his shoulder back in shape. Were I a betting man, I wouldn’t take action on him playing any preseason games. Actually, I am a betting man. There just isn’t a Vegas line on this particular prop. haha

2007-10-02 13:21:53.0 a fan: how doe Bynum look?

2007-10-02 13:21:57.0 Brian Kamenetzky: DP- there certainly is from fans. And I also get the impression that not everyone is convinced Jim Buss has the, um, gravitas to run the organization well. There’s certainly a little instability there.

2007-10-02 13:22:01.0 Brian Kamenetzky: a fan-

2007-10-02 13:23:03.0 Brian Kamenetzky: Pretty yoked out these days. Less baby fat, more muscle. He told me he was about five or more pounds heavier, but he moved a lot more weight around, too. Shed fat, build muscle. It’s a lesson for us all.

2007-10-02 13:23:11.0 CuevaGold: What are the chances the Lakers make a trade before the season starts? If not, what about during the season?

2007-10-02 13:24:36.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: CuevaGold - Somewhere between “miniscule” and “ain’t gonna happen.”

2007-10-02 13:24:43.0 theishy: What do you guys see as the lakers starting 5 on opening day (injuries aside)?

2007-10-02 13:25:26.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: By the way, you shoujd really invest in some Patron Silver. A little more pricey, but smooth enough to sip or drink on the rocks. Worth the bump in your wallet.

2007-10-02 13:25:52.0 Brian Kamenetzky: theishy- Elton Brown, PF. Sasha, SG. AK, PG. Bynum, C. Coby Karl, SF.

2007-10-02 13:25:56.0 dp: yeah i cant think of another team with a popular superstar that has a polarized effect on fans, Kobe by reports is a guy who keeps to himself , how does that impact his ability to lead this team?

2007-10-02 13:26:09.0 Brian Kamenetzky: Just kidding. Fish, Kobe, Walton, LO, and Bynum, if he’s healthy and has a good camp.

2007-10-02 13:26:54.0 theishy: Brian - if we start your proposed starting lineup, you may want to change your prediction that there is no chance kobe is in another uniform by March! (haha)

2007-10-02 13:26:55.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Cueva... Sorry. I should have been more specific (and less tequila obsessed). I don’t see a trade happening before the season. At the deadline, I think there could be moves. Particularly involving Kwame, since his deal expires and I don’t see him having a future with the Lakers unless he can learn the 4 or Bynum gets moved

2007-10-02 13:27:03.0 fabio: LMAO AT YOUR 5

2007-10-02 13:27:06.0 CuevaGold: CuevaPatron just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

2007-10-02 13:27:17.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: TheIshy - Kobe becomes 6th Man of the Year. You gotta think big. haha

2007-10-02 13:27:35.0 Lakers!!!: I’m getting the feeling this will be Phil’s last season, unless The Lakers actually turn into a great team. He is like yoda coaching with that cane, but about 5 feet taller

2007-10-02 13:27:58.0 theishy: andrew - what makes you think voters would vote him 6th man, if he cant get anywhere with MVP voting last year or the year before? hahah

2007-10-02 13:28:17.0 naz_21: agreed the lakers have to be great for phil 2 stay

2007-10-02 13:28:32.0 Elle: Shhhhhhhh Phil can’t leave

2007-10-02 13:28:40.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Lakers!!! Well, there are a few more differences between Yoda and Phil. Phil speaks in more complete, grammatically correct sentences. He doesn’t commute from Dagobah. And he only rarely levitates.

2007-10-02 13:28:51.0 Brian Kamenetzky: Lakers- He certainly indicated he’d like the team to get better, if they’re going to pay him that much to coach... and he’s going to bother doing it. I think PJ feels that if they’re not going to be a contending team, there’s really no poin in him being there.

2007-10-02 13:29:01.0 Lakers!!!: even yoda dies, but the force (the lakers) lives on forever

2007-10-02 13:29:07.0 naz_21: would Sacramento part ways with Artest for Kwame and V-Rad?

2007-10-02 13:29:08.0 naz_21: Kwame and Vlade FOR Artest?

2007-10-02 13:29:17.0 fabio: this won’t be phil’s last, this will be the year when the kobynum era will born and it will be 4life brother

2007-10-02 13:29:30.0 Elle: No, oh no please just say no to Ron, just say NO!

2007-10-02 13:29:34.0 a fan: that’d be f’in sweet

2007-10-02 13:29:39.0 dp: 9 rings is not the right coach for this team, can it be any clearer after last season?

2007-10-02 13:29:45.0 Lakers!!!: I hope, believe me

2007-10-02 13:29:53.0 Brian Kamenetzky: Only if they feel they have to move him, and I’m not sure that’s the best offer they could get. A lot depends on Artest.

2007-10-02 13:29:59.0 naz_21: Phil can deal with

2007-10-02 13:30:03.0 naz_21: Artest

2007-10-02 13:30:07.0 Brian Kamenetzky: I don’t think they’d like the Vlad Rad part.

2007-10-02 13:30:10.0 Elle: Can the fans?

2007-10-02 13:30:19.0 a fan: who do you think has made the most off-season progresson this team?

2007-10-02 13:30:28.0 Elle: Deal with Ron, I mean

2007-10-02 13:30:29.0 naz_21: well who else would they take with Kwame?\

2007-10-02 13:30:34.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Naz.. i think the Lakers would make that trade. I don’t know if the Kings would. I doubt they’d want Vlad’s contract and, at least right now, I hear they’re happy with Ron Ron. But check back in a week week.

2007-10-02 13:31:33.0 Brian Kamenetzky: fan- Having not seen anyone play, it’s impossible to say. Cook and Bynum look like they’ve gotten themselves in better shape, for sure. What that means, I have no idea.

2007-10-02 13:31:45.0 theishy: Who do you both see as the team’s wildcard this year? Is it Andrew? Kwame? Do you guys see Crittenton getting minutes this year like Jordan did last year?

2007-10-02 13:32:05.0 Administrator2: Hi folks-- if you’ve asked a question and it hasn’t appeared yet, hold tight-- we’ll get to it ASAP!

2007-10-02 13:32:23.0 dp: yeah but are the Kbros in great shape for the season?

2007-10-02 13:32:57.0 naz_21: At least

2007-10-02 13:32:58.0 naz_21: Andrew doesn’t suffer from mental breakdowns like sure handed KWAME

2007-10-02 13:33:10.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Naz, I think the trade could work with Kwame for Ron Ron straight up. But Kwame makes more money, so if anything, the Lakers are the ones needfing to take more salary, not the Kings.

2007-10-02 13:33:14.0 naz_21: Kwame just doesn’t have a feel for the game

2007-10-02 13:33:23.0 naz_21: hes a robot

2007-10-02 13:33:36.0 CuevaGold: Kobe said in an interview that Dr. Buss was “hands off” regarding b-ball decisions for the last two years and that now he was going to be “back in the mix”. Does this mean that Dr. Buss has finally realized that Jimmy the horse trainer has no clue about basketball?

2007-10-02 13:33:39.0 Brian Kamenetzky: theishy- Someone between Farmar and Crittendon is going to get minutes, for sure. Initially, it’ll likely be Farmar, but I don’t think the gap is very big. Wouldn’t surprise me to see that fluctuate a lot this year, in terms of PT with the backup PGs. In terms of a wild card, Vlad Rad is certainly one. They got literally nothing from him last year, and thus any contribution is a bonus. Obviously Bynum. And to some extent Fish, who has leadership bonafides, but it’s reasonable to qeustion how good he’ll be on the floor.

2007-10-02 13:34:06.0 Brian Kamenetzky: Not to say he’ll be bad, but I think a lot of people wonder the level he still has.

2007-10-02 13:34:22.0 naz_21: Phil prefers Critten type guards

2007-10-02 13:34:32.0 Brian Kamenetzky: Currently, I have him as a lower end starter at PG. But it was still a good, and needed pckup.

2007-10-02 13:34:45.0 Brian Kamenetzky: naz- if Crittendon can play some D, he’ll find his way onto the floor.

2007-10-02 13:34:52.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Cueva... Either that or Dr. Buss is secretly jealous of how well his son has done, so he wants to reassert his presence before his legacy shrinks. But that feels like a stretch.

2007-10-02 13:34:59.0 doug: How big an effect do you think the Bulls’ willingness to allow Ben Wallace to wear a headband will have on the Eastern Conference Standings this year? I think more than Kobe or KG, this is the final piece of the puzzle for them. Title #7 is on the way.

2007-10-02 13:35:31.0 naz_21: yes he will......but thinking ahead a i believe farmar should be moved once his stock goes up a little

2007-10-02 13:35:51.0 naz_21: hes undersized

2007-10-02 13:35:55.0 naz_21: his shot is questionable

2007-10-02 13:36:02.0 naz_21: *Questionable

2007-10-02 13:36:30.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Doug... I think if ben Wallace wants to wear a headband, let the guy wear a headband. Don’t the Bulls have more important things to worry about than what players strap on their melons? It was a dumb rule to begin with.

2007-10-02 13:36:38.0 naz_21: i was wrong when i had the mike bibby comparisons with farmar

2007-10-02 13:36:44.0 LArez: Nothing has really changed in the Laker’s roster, and from everything i read they seem to be in their usual “we’ll give our best shot” mentality....but those are the opening words to every losing season. Do you think this season is over before it even gets started?

2007-10-02 13:36:46.0 Brian Kamenetzky: Sure. I think many on the blog have a higher opinion of Farmar than opposing GMs. Not that it’s thought that he sucks, but the notion that he’s going to become an elite NBA PG is a stretch.

2007-10-02 13:37:10.0 naz_21: Farmar isn’t fast enuff or have a convincing enuff of a shot

2007-10-02 13:37:51.0 naz_21: The only thing farmar has going for him is his “understanding” of the game

2007-10-02 13:38:03.0 naz_21: which holds some value

2007-10-02 13:38:36.0 dp: BK wouldnt you go a step further and say the lakers system does not fit Farmars game well?

2007-10-02 13:38:53.0 naz_21: yes it does my friend

2007-10-02 13:39:21.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: LArez - Depends on what you define as a season being “over.” If you mean it like, “Chances of winning a title,” then yeah, it’s over. Ain’t gonna happen. But if you’re talking about being a competitive team, assuming everyone stays healthy, I don’t ever think this team as constructed can be elite, but they can certainly play hard and well enough to make some games interesting.

2007-10-02 13:39:25.0 naz_21: the TRIANGE offense requires sub-par intelligent PG’s

2007-10-02 13:39:27.0 CuevaGold: What kind of season would be enough to keep Kobe from demanding a trade? Would 50 wins and a trip to second round be enought to give him hope?

2007-10-02 13:39:49.0 naz_21: NO he needs another PLAYER

2007-10-02 13:40:12.0 Brian Kamenetzky: DP- I think the system is okay for him, if he develops his shot he’d be fine, and there are plenty of chances to push and cut and all that. His D needs to improve, as does his strength. I think his weaknesses would show in almost any system

2007-10-02 13:40:14.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: That being said, the West is tough and the Lakers aren’t gonna find it getting any easier. I don’t think they can be truly competitve in an elite, contender sense.

2007-10-02 13:40:34.0 naz_21: unless Bynum become Mr. 15 and 10

2007-10-02 13:40:42.0 fabio: he needs someone who can make jumpshots night after night

2007-10-02 13:41:48.0 dp: thats true BK but I could see Farmar flourshing in a less structured system like Phx, the triangle is antinquated and no other team uses it

2007-10-02 13:42:04.0 Elle: Am I the only one wprried that we have players on the team that seem to give up if they don’t knock down their first few shots?

2007-10-02 13:42:55.0 theishy: Elle - I think that sitution was worse last year with Smush - at least they got rid of him - and I think that their effort will be reflective of that

2007-10-02 13:43:23.0 Brian Kamenetzky: DP- I don’t know about that, actually. It’s not as simple a system as it seems, and his shot would have to get better. Lots of decision making, etc. You can play poorly in that system for sure. But it helps to be surrounded by that kind of talent.

2007-10-02 13:43:36.0 Brian Kamenetzky: Offensively, when it’s run well the triangle is just fine.

2007-10-02 13:43:52.0 theishy: smush was notorious for not playing D if his shots didnt fall, and Nash exposed that horribly in games 5-7 2 years ago, and throughout last year’s series

2007-10-02 13:44:13.0 Elle: I really think Smush had ADD

2007-10-02 13:44:20.0 dp: thats why im signing u kbros up for a 10 day contract in Phx!

2007-10-02 13:44:21.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: DP - Plus, Farmar played for Ben Howland at UCLA, who doesn’t exactly run a helter skelter, free flowing pace.

2007-10-02 13:44:26.0 CuevaGold: I know he needs another player but he won’t get one this year. I’m hoping the Lakers do well enough that Kobe decides to stick it out and hopefully we can sign a star free agent next summer.

2007-10-02 13:44:47.0 Elle: How do you guys feel about Cook?

2007-10-02 13:44:49.0 naz_21: LOL SMUSH DID HAVE ADD

2007-10-02 13:44:55.0 theishy: Elle - i wouldnt dismiss that idea. Good luck to Miami with him and an aging center!

2007-10-02 13:44:56.0 Brian Kamenetzky: Cueva- Sorry. Big ticket items in this offseason will be tough, unless they clear more space.

2007-10-02 13:46:08.0 Administrator2: Chatters, if you haven’t seen your question appear in the chat window yet, it’s because there’s a backlog of questions-- we’ll get to as many as we can, as soon as we can. But we’re not ignoring you!

2007-10-02 13:46:14.0 theishy: cueva - i think if we wait until the offseason, then we will have about 20 million in capspace, because i think kobe is gone. something has to be done this year.

2007-10-02 13:47:09.0 Elle: Cueva, I don’t think it’s really all about Kobe getting another player, I think the problem is that the guys just expect Kobe to carry the load almost like they think that they can’t be as good as him, so why try?

2007-10-02 13:47:22.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Elle... I think Cook sometimes gets a bad rap. He’s fairly one dimensional, but also fairly good within that dimension. It would be nice if he were a better defender and provided a little more (I’ve compared him before to a situational lefty or a 3rd down back, in terms of specifity in his usage), but he’s also a 9th or 10th guy in rotation. Most guys like that are limited and I think fans sometimes forget that. They think only the Lakers’ bench guys aren’t well rounded.

2007-10-02 13:47:34.0 CuevaGold: Is Jimmy “The Horse Whisperer” Buss the Lakers Insider Kobe spoke of earlier this summer?

2007-10-02 13:48:30.0 fabio: hi brothers....where can i find holinger BSPN article for insiders about the lakers?

2007-10-02 13:48:35.0 Elle: LOL @ “The horse whisperer”

2007-10-02 13:49:07.0 Brian Kamenetzky: fabio- I’d try the basketball page of the insider website, or do a search on ESPN.com

2007-10-02 13:49:29.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Cook can also light up an opponent in quick bunches, which works out well, since he’s often hard to keep on the court for too long. Kinda balances itself out, and not necessarily in a bad way.

2007-10-02 13:50:42.0 Brian Kamenetzky: I think he’s fine for the money he makes.

2007-10-02 13:51:05.0 Brian Kamenetzky: As long as he’s not your sixth or seventh man, it’s okay. He’s a late rotation type guy who can shoot, and you always need guys who can shoot.

2007-10-02 13:51:58.0 Lakers!!!: In the 2005-6 season, I was saying Chris M was one of the best fundamentally sound players at center, do you think he can bounce back after this injury?

2007-10-02 13:52:38.0 p: anyone on?

2007-10-02 13:52:48.0 Brian Kamenetzky: on what?

2007-10-02 13:52:52.0 p: any updates??

2007-10-02 13:53:33.0 Administrator2: Hey p, since you’re entering the chat midway through, you’re not able to see what happened in the first 45 minutes or so, but a transcript will be posted later. Updates galore!

2007-10-02 13:53:47.0 p: nice

2007-10-02 13:54:25.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Lakers!!! - Honestly, it’s too early for me to say. I’m not knowledgable enough when it comes to medicine and I haven’t seen Mihm play. That injury was a serious bitch. His role on the team is tough to predict right now. I wouldn’t be any more shocked if he ended up starting than if he ended up glued to the bench.

2007-10-02 13:54:34.0 theishy: does anyone see a similarity between this year’s backlog at center and our backlog at SF a few years ago with Caron, Lamar, Luke and Devean?

2007-10-02 13:56:50.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: The Ishy - Mostly in the sense that it reminds me that they shouldn’t have traded Caron for Kwame. haha

2007-10-02 13:57:05.0 fadeaway8: whats the injury/recovery status? Who’s ready to play and who isn’t in Nov?

2007-10-02 13:57:54.0 theishy: thats exactly what i mean andrew - now they are going to probably trade kwame....and wouldnt surprise me if they get a SF (like marion or kirilenko or artest for him) - its like we keep going in circles and never improving our weaker positions

2007-10-02 13:57:57.0 fabio: holinger Prediction: 43-39, 2nd in Pacific, 7th in Western Conference

2007-10-02 13:58:15.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Fadeaway - To the best of my knowledge, LO is still a ways from total recovery. Kwame is reasonably close. Bynum sustained a minor calf injury a few days ago, but should be fine. Everyone else is good to go.

2007-10-02 13:58:49.0 Elle: theishy why would anyone want to take Kwame?

2007-10-02 13:58:52.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Oh, and Mihm is reasonably close, but not entirely there.

2007-10-02 13:58:57.0 naz_21: Marion 4 Lamar!!!!! WHATS THE UPDATE?

2007-10-02 13:58:57.0 naz_21: BK/AK what is the update with Marion??? and yes i would pull the trigger on deal if i were the lakers becuz LO has had 3 years to try

2007-10-02 13:58:58.0 naz_21: IS THE MARION DEAL DEAD??

2007-10-02 13:59:30.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Naz, I don’t think it’ll happen.

2007-10-02 13:59:41.0 CuevaGold: Marion Deal, RIP

2007-10-02 13:59:45.0 CuevaGold: The way I see it, if we can make some noise in the Playoffs, LA will become a disreable destination for free agents and Kobe would be content to go after another player next summer. If LA doesn’t advance in the playoffs then Kobe is gone next summer.

2007-10-02 14:00:15.0 p: when is this chat over?

2007-10-02 14:00:31.0 Administrator2: Hey p, we’ve got the Kamenetzkys for a few more minutes...

2007-10-02 14:01:15.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Brian had to run, FYI. But I’m-a take us to the home stretch.

2007-10-02 14:02:00.0 fabio: marion 4 lamar is a bad move, aint gonna happen, JO will be a laker by the trade deadline

2007-10-02 14:02:04.0 theishy: elle - i think that of the 3 centers we have, kwame is the ONLY one that plays D. That is what we seriously lacked last year at the end. I dont think its a coincidence that we started losing when Kwame went down on Dec 31st. I do NOT ant to say that i think that kwame their mvp (im not COMPLETELY insane) ...but hes a great guy to have in the middle for what the lakers need (scoring is not the lakers issue....defence is..a.nd kwame provides that)

2007-10-02 14:02:08.0 theishy: Did you guys travel with the team to Hawaii? Any stories since yesterday other than you both running into Chris, Elton, and Sasha?

2007-10-02 14:02:11.0 Elle: the presale for the tickets is coming up, is anyone else upset that tickets cost more?

2007-10-02 14:03:26.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Ishy - We don’t travel, so we’re not in Hawaii. But I am hammered off blue Hawaiians right now, if that helps add a little authenticity and “insidery” to this chat. haha

2007-10-02 14:03:39.0 p: Andrew, if you were Lakers GM, if you were to trade Kobe, what would you expect to see in return?

2007-10-02 14:04:00.0 CuevaGold: Question is what is the turning point for Kobe? I think it would take WCF appearance to get him to back off trade demands.

2007-10-02 14:04:40.0 fabio: IMO -nothing, you just don’t trade the best player in the game

2007-10-02 14:05:04.0 Elle: We traded Shaq and look where that got us

2007-10-02 14:05:34.0 fabio: that is my point

2007-10-02 14:07:01.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: P - That’s a very hard question to answer without knowing for sure which teams Kobe would be willing to play for, since he has a no trade clause. But if the time did come that they’d have to trade Kobe, I’d personally rather see them trade for high quality depth, even if it doesn’t include a true superstar.

2007-10-02 14:07:55.0 Hab: Hey, it’s past 2:00.. When is this thing over?

2007-10-02 14:08:01.0 Administrator2: Last question, Hab!

2007-10-02 14:08:04.0 eddie: I’m late to the party, so sorry if this is a repeat, but I see the LO interview on your blog and was hoping to get more. How was his demeanor? Has he been working on his right hand at all (since he can’t use his left right now)? What do you see from Odom this year?

2007-10-02 14:08:53.0 Hab: Good, cuz AK/BK need to get back to their regular jobs - approving my brilliant posts on the blog...haha

2007-10-02 14:09:03.0 fabio: if the time come and they trade the best player in the game they need to trade either 4 a PG EITHER 4 a C + young talent

2007-10-02 14:10:11.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: LO’s demeanor is almost always friendly and upbeat, and pretty introspective. He’s a pretty sensitive guy and often wears that on his sleeve (not in a “tears” way, just in letting you know how he feels). If LO can stay healthy, he’s capable of being a very good player. The guy is very talented and always creates mismatches. Unfortunately, that’s always an “if.”

2007-10-02 14:10:39.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: And with that, I’m out... Thanks to everyone for stopping by. We appreciate it.

2007-10-02 14:10:43.0 Administrator2: The Kamenetzkys will be back later this month for another live chat, so be sure to join them then! If you missed any of today’s chat, the transcript will be available at https://www.latimes.com/sports in about an hour.

2007-10-02 14:10:59.0 Andrew Kamenetzky: Thanks y’all. Talk to you later.

2007-10-02 14:11:08.0 p: ty akbk

2007-10-02 14:11:10.0 eddie: Thanks AK

2007-10-02 14:11:31.0 Hab: Thanks AK, it was fun
