Athletics trade Brett Anderson to Rockies

The Oakland Athletics traded left-hander Brett Anderson to the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday for left-hander Drew Pomeranz and minor league right-hander Chris Jensen. The Rockies also are receiving cash in the deal.

Anderson will be paid $8 million next season and has a $12-million contract option for 2015. That includes a $1.5-million buyout. He was 1-4 with a 6.04 earned-run average in 16 appearances last season, five as a starter.

Pomeranz, a power pitcher, was on the disabled list late in the season because of left biceps tendinitis. He was 0-4 with a 6.23 ERA in eight outings.

Jensen was 5-8 with a 4.55 ERA for Class-A Modesto.

Rajai Davis and Tigers close in on deal

A person familiar with the negotiations said that outfielder Rajai Davis and the Detroit Tigers are closing in on an agreement for a two-year contract worth $9 million to $10 million.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity to the Associated Press because an agreement has not been completed.

Davis, 33, spent the last three seasons with Toronto and hit .260 this year with six home runs and 24 runs batted in. He stole 45 bases and has 268 in his career.

He also has played for Pittsburgh (2006-07), San Francisco (2007-08) and Oakland (2008-10).

Garrett Jones and Marlins finalize contract

First baseman-outfielder Garrett Jones and the Miami Marlins finalized a two-year, $7.75-million contract.

Jones, a left-handed hitter, batted .233 with 15 home runs and 51 runs batted in with Pittsburgh this year. He lost his starting job late in the season and batted only twice in the playoffs.

In 2012, Jones batted .274 with a career-high 27 home runs and 86 RBIs.

J.P. Arencibia and Rangers make deal official

Catcher J.P. Arencibia and the Texas Rangers have finalized a $1.8-million, one-year contract.

Arencibia hit .194 with 21 home runs, 18 doubles and 55 RBIs in a career-high 138 games this year for Toronto.

Arencibia has a .212 average with 64 home runs and 193 RBIs in four big league seasons.

Ryan Webb signs with Orioles

Right-hander Ryan Webb signed a two-year contract with the Baltimore Orioles.

Webb had a 2.91 ERA with the Marlins in 2012 and pitched in a career-high 66 games.

In five major league seasons, Webb is 13-15 with a 3.29 ERA in 266 games with San Diego and Miami.
