Brewster Puts His Title on the Line
World Boxing Organization heavyweight champion Lamon Brewster, who fights out of the Broadway Boxing Gym in South Los Angeles, will defend his title tonight against former sparring partner Kali Meehan.
Brewster (30-2, 27 knockouts) and Meehan (29-1, 23) of Wyongah, Australia, meet at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Brewster won the belt on April 10 when Wladimir Klitschko could not continue after the fifth round.
In the co-featured bout, undisputed welterweight champion Cory Spinks (33-2, 10) of St. Louis, will defend his World Boxing Council, International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Assn. belts against former lightweight champion Miguel Angel Gonzalez (49-3-1, 39) of Ensenada, Mexico.
