Clippers’ Chris Kaman scheduled to have MRI exam
The Clippers’ season practically started with an MRI exam, so it made complete sense that it would end that way with one game remaining.
This time, it turned out to be injury-riddled center Chris Kaman, who is certainly well-acquainted with the MRI machine. Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro said Monday morning that Kaman was scheduled to have an MRI exam on his sprained right knee either later in the day or perhaps Tuesday.
Kaman suffered the injury in the latter stages of Wednesday’s loss at Oklahoma City, and did not play in the Clippers’ final two road games, at Dallas and Houston, both losses.
He has played in a mere 32 games this season, averaging 12.4 points and 7.0 rebounds. Two seasons ago, he appeared in 31 games, and last season, 76 games.
Also beset with knee issues is small forward Ryan Gomes. Del Negro said that Gomes is dealing with a swollen knee and has had it drained recently. Del Negro did not think Gomes’ knee would require off-season surgery, and said that it might be treated with platelet rich plasma therapy.
There is only one Clipper who has not missed a game this season: power forward Blake Griffin. Funny how things have changed. A year ago, he was dealing with questions about his durability after missing the entire season because of knee surgery.
Now he is the healthiest Clipper this season.

Warren back
Rookie guard Willie Warren, who has spent most of the second half of the season with Bakersfield of the Development League, was recalled by the Clippers on Monday.
Warren is averaging 19.2 points and 5.7 assists in Bakersfield, having appeared in 15 games.
Ramp closure
Fans heading to Staples Center for the final Clippers game of the season, Wednesday night against Memphis, should note that the 11th Street on-ramp to the northbound 110 Freeway will be closed.
The highway improvement, part of the $125-million Harbor Freeway project, is expected to be completed in the summer of 2013.
