No. 2 Kansas holds off No. 19 Baylor, 66-60, for eighth victory in a row

Frank Mason III scored 19 points and Landen Lucas had the tiebreaking layup as No. 2 Kansas won its eighth consecutive game and moved closer to a 12th Big 12 Conference title in a row with a 66-60 victory over No. 19 Baylor on Tuesday night at Waco, Texas.

The Jayhawks (24-4, 12-3) trailed by as many as eight points after halftime before a 9-0 run to take the lead. After the score was tied, 55-55, Lucas had a layup with 3 minutes 3 seconds left to put Kansas ahead to stay.

Perry Ellis had 15 points for Kansas, which has a two-game lead over No. 14 West Virginia with three league games remaining.

Al Freeman led the Bears (20-8, 9-6) with 17 points, including four three-point baskets. Taurean Prince had 12 points.

No. 6 Michigan State 81, at Ohio State 62: Bryn Forbes made six three-point baskets in the second half and finished with 27 points for the Spartans (23-5, 10-5 Big Ten Conference).

Denzel Valentine had 17 points and eight assists to help the Spartans win for the seventh time in eight games.

Marc Loving had 19 points and JaQuan Lyle scored 16 for the Buckeyes (18-11, 10-6), whose winning streak ended at four games.

at No. 16 Kentucky 78, Alabama 53: Jamal Murray scored 23 points, Tyler Ulis had 19 and 10 assists, and the Wildcats (21-7, 11-4 Southeastern Conference) cruised.

Isaiah Briscoe scored 10 points and Marcus Lee had 12 rebounds for the Wildcats, who limited the Crimson Tide (16-11, 7-8) to 35% shooting.

The Wildcats outscored the Crimson Tide, 40-22, inside and outrebounded it, 41-29.

Retin Obasohan scored 29 points for the Crimson Tide.
