AT THE PLATE: Yasiel Puig, who missed the previous three games with a sore left hamstring, returned to the lineup. Puig was two for three with a double, a walk, a run batted in and a run scored. His RBI was significant. With the Dodgers’ lead down to one run in the seventh inning, he doubled in Jimmy Rollins and increased the margin to 5-3. Two batters later, Puig scored on a double down the left-field line by Howie Kendrick and the Dodgers were up, 6-3.

ON THE MOUND: Zack Greinke improved to 2-0 as he limited the Rockies to three runs and five hits in 62/3 innings. Greinke gave up a run in the first inning, but blanked the Rockies from the second through the sixth. In the seventh, Greinke was victimized by his defense, as Andre Ethier misplayed a ball at the left-field wall and allowed Nolan Arenado to reach base on a leadoff double. Three batters later, DJ LeMahieu blasted a two-run home run. Joel Peralta pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record his third save.

MEDICAL REPORT: Carl Crawford was sidelined with flu-like symptoms. Ethier started in his place in left field. . . . Kenley Jansen threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Saturday, marking the first time he has thrown a pitch from a mound since he underwent a foot operation two months ago. Jansen said he was told by trainers to refrain from throwing as hard as he could, but that he still touched 86 mph. “Body’s in shape, arm’s in shape,” he said. Jansen said he expects to return from the disabled list in the first half of next month. The next step in preparing himself for his return will be to throw a few more bullpen sessions, followed by live batting practice. After that, he expects to pitch in minor league games.
