Update: The Galaxy can become the first MLS team to clinch a playoff berth with a win over the defending MLS Cup champions. The Galaxy hasn’t lost at home this season and its 52 points and 14 wins top the MLS. L.A. will also be bolstered by the return of Chris Birchall and Robbie Keane, who missed Monday’s draw with Kansas City because of international matches — Keane with Ireland and Birchall for Trinidad and Tobago. Colorado will be getting back four international players of its own, but it will still be a weakened Rapids team without defender Drew Moor, who has been suspended one match for accumulated yellow cards, ending a record streak of 69 complete MLS games. And speaking of record runs, Galaxy midfielder David Beckham, second in the league in assists, became only the sixth player in club history to record 12 assists in a season with his helper against Kansas City. Beckham has been bothered by back spasms but is expected to play.
