GALAXY TONIGHT

VS. MANCHESTER UNITED

When: 8 p.m.

Where: Rose Bowl.

On the air: TV: Fox Sports 1, Fox Deportes.

Update: Officially, this is just an exhibition game, the first on Manchester United’s summer tour of the United States. But the game will serve as an important audition for several players needing to impress new Manchester United Coach Louis van Gaal. After guiding the Netherlands to a third-place finish in the World Cup, Van Gaal has less than a month to get Manchester United ready for the English Premier League season. The club was seventh last season, its worst finish in the Premier League era, and Van Gaal is expected to overhaul a roster of big-name players who have not performed well. Some of those big names — Robin van Persie, Marouane Fellaini — won’t play against the Galaxy. Others, such as Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Shinji Kagawa and nearly acquired Ander Herrera, are expected to play. Kickoff time has been moved back to 8 p.m. to give spectators extra time to make it to the Rose Bowl.
