GALAXY VS. SAN JOSE

When: 7:30.

Where: StubHub Center.

On the air: TV: NBC Sports Network; Radio: 1330.

Records: Galaxy 9-4-6; Earthquakes 6-8-5.

Record vs. Earthquakes: 1-0-0.

Update: Perhaps it’s fitting that on the day after Galaxy great Landon Donovan announced he would retire at season’s end, the Galaxy is playing San Jose, where Donovan began his Major League Soccer career in 2001. And assuming Donovan starts the game, this would be his 300th career MLS start. This is the second of three regular-season games between these Western Conference rivals, a series dubbed the California Clasico. In their first match June 28, a goal by Galaxy forward Gyasi Zardes gave the Galaxy a 1-0 win at Stanford Stadium. The Galaxy is coming off a 3-1 win over the Portland Timbers, and the Earthquakes’ most recently defeated the first-place Seattle Sounders, 1-0.
