10. Derek Fisher vs. San Antonio Spurs, Game 5 second round, May 13, 2004.( Wally Skalij, Los Angeles Times )
The setting: Fisher took an inbounds pass from Gary Payton with 0.4 of a second left and swished an 18-foot turnaround to give the Lakers a 74-73 victory in San Antonio.
The significance: The win gave the Lakers a 3-2 series lead and they closed out the defending champions in the next game. Fishers shot, held up after a video review, came moments after Tim Duncan had made an off-balance 18-foot shot from the top of the key to put the Spurs ahead by one. The Lakers beat Minnesota in the Western Conference finals, but were shocked in five games by the underdog Detroit Pistons in the Finals. |
