Ron Artest vs. Phoenix Suns, Game 5 Western Conference finals, May 27, 2010.( Wally Skalij, Los Angeles Times )
The setting: Artest rebounded a Kobe Bryant miss and put in an off-balance follow as time expired to give the Lakers a 103-101 victory at Staples Center.
The significance: Not only did the shot give the Lakers a 3-2 series lead, it provided Artest with instant redemption. With a minute left in the game and the Lakers ahead by three points, Artest missed a 20-footer and a three-point shot that he took with 22 seconds left on the shot clock. ArtestÂ’s winner was only his second basket of the game. The Lakers won the series in six games. |
