Five takeaways from Lakers’ overtime loss to Denver

Share

The Lakers had their chances Sunday. But 37.1% shooting? Yuck. Here are five takeaways from their 101-94 overtime loss to Denver.

1. The Lakers scored 36 points in the third quarter but Kobe Bryant said he took himself out of rhythm by taking only one shot in that time. Odd. He then went three for 11 in the fourth quarter and one for three in overtime.

2. Maybe Ed Davis isn’t quite ready for a full-time spot. He took the place of injured Carlos Boozer (strained shoulder) and lasted only 22 minutes before fouling out with four points and five rebounds.

3. The Lakers were tied for 27th in three-point accuracy before Sunday (30.8%). That will surely go down after they made three of 24 behind the arc (12.5%) against Denver.

4. Everybody knows that Lakers fans love Bryant and Nick Young, but the bronze medalist for fan favorite might be Robert Sacre, who had 13 points Sunday and earned a Kobe-like M-V-P chant. It wasn’t overly loud or long, though, and possibly derived out of humor more than anything else.

5. Jordan Hill was part of the Lakers’ shooting problems -- making two of eight attempts -- but he had 11 points and 14 rebounds to extend his career-best streak of doubles-doubles to six games.
