LeBron James carries Heat past Mavericks, 117-106

LeBron James scored a season-high 42 points and the Miami Heat tuned up for a showdown with Oklahoma City by beating the Dallas Mavericks, 117-106, on Tuesday night in Dallas.

James, who had his first 40-point game of the season, scored the first eight points and 10 overall in a 14-0 run that put the Heat up, 106-95. Miami won for the sixth time in seven games heading into its game against Kevin Durant and the Thunder on Thursday.

at Indiana 108, Atlanta 98: Paul George scored 26 points for the Pacers, who handed the Hawks a sixth consecutive loss.

at Memphis 98, New York 93: Mike Conley scored 22 points in his return after missing seven games with an ankle injury and the Grizzlies won their third in a row.

Phoenix 112, at Denver 107 (OT): Gerald Green scored a career-high 36 points, including eight in overtime, and the Suns sent the Nuggets to a fifth loss in a row. Evan Fournier scored 25 for Denver.

Cleveland 114, at Philadelphia 85: Tyler Zeller scored a season-high 18 points and grabbed a career-best 15 rebounds and the Cavaliers won their fifth in a row. The 76ers lost their ninth straight.

Charlotte 108, at Detroit 96: Al Jefferson had 32 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for the Bobcats.

Toronto 103, at Washington 93: Kyle Lowry had 24 points and 10 assists for the Raptors.

at Milwaukee 104, Orlando 100: Brandon Knight, who sliced his foot stepping out of the shower in the afternoon, scored 18 points and made two free throws with 5.5 seconds to seal the win for the Bucks.
