NBA: Kyrie Irving wills Celtics to 16th straight victory

Kyrie Irving scored a season-high 47 points, including 10 in overtime, and the Boston Celtics rallied again from a double-digit deficit to beat the host Dallas Mavericks 110-102 on Monday night and extend their winning streak to 16 games.

The streak is ties the fourth-longest in franchise history.

Dallas led by as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter but the Celtics tied the score 96-96 when Irving stole the ball from Dirk Nowitzki and fed Jayson Tatum for an alley-oop layup.

Harrison Barnes scored 31 points for the Mavericks.

Cleveland 116, at Detroit 88: LeBron James scored 16 of his 18 points in the first quarter and the Cavaliers made 11 three-point baskets in the first half. Cleveland has won five consecutive games and scored at least 110 points in eight of its last nine games.

at New Orleans 114, Oklahoma City 107: Anthony Davis had 36 points and 15 rebounds, and the Pelicans rallied after DeMarcus Cousins’ ejection for a flagrant foul on Russell Westbrook in the third quarter. Cousins had 18 points and nine rebounds, and Westbrook had 22 points, 16 rebounds and 12 assists.

at Philadelphia 107, Utah 86: Ben Simmons scored 27 points, and Joel Embiid had 15 points and 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double this season.

Indiana 105, at Orlando 97: Victor Oladipo had 29 points, nine rebounds and seven steals to lead the Pacers to their fourth consecutive victory. Oladipo and Bojan Bogdanovic combined for 40 points in the second half.

at Charlotte 118, Minnesota 102: Dwight Howard, the NBA’s active leader in 20-20 games with 49, had 25 points and 20 rebounds to become the first Hornet to accomplish the feat since Al Jefferson in 2013.

Washington 99, at Milwaukee 88: Bradley Beal scored 23 points for the Wizards, who outscored the Bucks 13-4 to start the fourth quarter and built a 86-70 advantage.

Portland 100, at Memphis 92: C. J. McCollum scored 24 points, Damian Lillard had 21 and the Trail Blazers sent the Grizzlies to their fifth consecutive loss.

at San Antonio 96, Atlanta 85: LaMarcus Aldridge had 22 points and 11 rebounds, and the Spurs beat the Hawks at San Antonio for 20th consecutive time, a streak spanning 20 years.

Denver 114, at Sacramento 98: Will Barton had 25 points and the Nuggets prevailed without coach Mike Malone, who was suspended for one game for making contact with an official during the team’s loss to the Lakers on Sunday.
