Chiney Ogwumike had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead second-seeded Stanford back to the Final Four with a 74-65 victory over North Carolina on Tuesday night in the final of the Stanford Regional on the Cardinal’s home floor, Maples Pavilion.

Mikaela Ruef scored a career-high 17 points on her way to regional MVP honors, Amber Orrange scored 14 and Bonnie Samuelson knocked down three three-pointers for 13 points off the bench for Stanford (34-3), whose streak of five straight Final Fours was snapped last March.

Allisha Gray scored 19 points for No. 4 seed North Carolina (27-10), which couldn’t pull off a Final Four reunion with Coach Sylvia Hatchell, who has battled leukemia all season and watched the game from Chapel Hill, N.C.

Maryland 76, Louisville 73: All-American Alyssa Thomas had 22 points and 13 rebounds as the Terrapins (28-6) advanced to their first Final Four since winning the 2006 national championship, beating the Cardinals (33-5) on their home floor in the Louisville Regional final.

The Terrapins reached the Final Four for the fourth time, pulling off their second straight upset in Louisville, though this victory was much harder than their win over Tennessee on Sunday. Shoni Schimmel, who scored 31 points for Louisville, missed a potential tying three-pointer off the back of the rim just before the final buzzer.
