Coach Tom Coughlin signed a two-year contract extension through the 2014 season on Wednesday with the New York Giants. The 65-year-old Coughlin, who led the team to its second Super Bowl victory under him in February, has coached the Giants since 2004. His contract was in its final year.

“It has always been my belief that it is an honor and a privilege to be the head coach of the New York Giants,” Coughlin said. “I’m thankful to [co-owners] John Mara and Steve Tisch and their families for their support and the recognition of what our players and coaches have accomplished. And I’m grateful for the working relationship [General Manager] Jerry Reese and I have. We’ve got a lot of work left to do.”

Coughlin became the oldest coach with a Super Bowl title this year, and also took the Giants to the 2007 title. New York beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl both times.

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie receiver Justin Blackmon said he is done drinking for now.

His bold statement came three days after he was arrested and charged with aggravated drunk driving in Stillwater, Okla.

Blackmon said that he doesn’t have a drinking problem and that he just “made a poor choice and put myself in a bad situation.” Nonetheless, he swore off alcohol for now.

It was the second DUI arrest for Blackmon, who had his previous charge reduced following an October 2010 incident. Blackmon declined to answer some questions because of the pending legal process. He pleaded not guilty Tuesday to the misdemeanor charge.

Webster, 34, was sentenced in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court in Cincinnati. A jury convicted him in April on four counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, and he could have been sentenced to up to 20 years.

Jurors in April found Webster not guilty of three other charges: gross sexual imposition, sexual battery and a fifth count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Prosecutors said Webster had sex with the girl in 2009 when she was 15 and he threatened to harm her if she told anyone. Webster admitted having sex with the teen the next year, when she was 16 -- the legal age of consent in Ohio.
