Angels reliever Bobby Cassevah remains slowed by sore shoulder

Bobby Cassevah suffered another setback this week when his shoulder tightened after a bullpen workout, and the Angels reliever probably will open the season on the disabled list.

The sinker-ball specialist established himself as a reliable seventh-inning man last season, going 1-1 with a 2.72 earned-run average in 30 games.

He has not pitched in a game this spring because of a slight shoulder tear, which was diagnosed last year but not deemed severe enough to require surgery.

“It’s kind of disappointing seeing all the guys fighting for jobs and not being able to get out there and win my spot,” Cassevah said. “But I have to take it slow.”
