It’s been nearly two years since it was revealed that the story of Manti Te’o’s deceased girlfriend “Lennay Kekua” was revealed to be just that, a story. Despite the passage of time, it appears his NFL opponents are still bringing it up to get in the head of the young Chargers middle linebacker.

“I asked Manti Te’o about his imaginary girlfriend last night and he snapped. LOL. I thought that was hilarious,” 49ers offensive lineman Anthony Davis tweeted Sunday.

Te’o had a comeback of his own for Davis.

“I got harassed a few times last year. I expected that. But this year?” Te’o told UT-San Diego. “I told him, ‘Find a new joke.’ ”

While Davis’ burn doesn’t appear on the official stat sheet, Te’o’s sack of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and 11 tackles -- one for a loss -- do.

Ultimately, San Diego staged a come-from-behind win to beat San Francisco, 38-35, in overtime at the 49ers’ brand new $1.3 billion Levi’s Stadium. The 49ers (7-8) have won just three games in their new home, but could get to .500 with a win Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals (11-4).

The Chargers (9-6) can make the playoffs with a win Sunday in Kansas City against the Chiefs (8-7).
