Three Galaxy players - midfielder Landon Donovan, forward Robbie Keane and defender Omar Gonzalez -- were among those named to the MLS Best XI, Major League Soccer’s top 11 players this season, the league said Tuesday.

It was a record seventh time that Donovan, who plans to retire after this year, was named to the roster and the first time that the three Galaxy players were among the MLS Best XI in the same season.

The announcement came ahead of Sunday’s MLS championship game, the MLS Cup, between the Galaxy and the New England Revolution at StubHub Center.
