Josh Hamilton’s ‘good week’ continues with yet another home run

Josh Hamilton is making history ... and he’s making it look easy.

The Texas outfielder hit his major league-leading 18th home run Saturday during the Rangers’ 4-2 loss to the Angels. He is only the second player since 1918 to hit 18 homers in his team’s first 34 games. Cy Williams of the Philadelphia Phillies did it in 1923.

After striking out against Angels starter C.J. Wilson in his first two at-bats on Saturday, Hamilton gave his former Rangers teammate the same treatment he’s been giving most pitchers lately with a solo shot in the sixth inning.

It was Hamilton’s third home run in less than 24 hours, after homering twice in the Rangers’ 10-3 victory over the Angels on Friday night, and his ninth home run in the last six games. He sent four over the fence against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.

“It’s been a good week,” Hamilton said. “I’m thanking God for it. I’m trying to stay out of the way and think as little as possible and go out there and just go. Just ride it while it’s going.”

In addition to the home runs, Hamilton also leads the majors with a .402 average and 41 RBIs.

“I wish the game was that easy,” Rangers Manager Ron Washington said. “Josh makes it look that easy, but it’s really not.”
