Update: After missing three games because of a right wrist injury, Candace Parker returned Thursday against Indiana, helping the Sparks win their third game in a row, 74-64. The Sparks have one game remaining on their five-game trip before returning to L.A. for two games. The Sparks are in second place in the Western Conference, 2 1/2 games behind first-place Minnesota. The Liberty is tied with the Washington Mystics for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Liberty is led by Cappie Pondexter, who is averaging 18.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and four assists. When the teams played in L.A. on July 4, the Sparks won, 97-89.
