Adam Searl, a punter for UCLA, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexual assault.

Searl, a walk-on, was released on $300,000 bond Thursday night. He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 29.

In a statement, UCLA Coach Jim Mora said, “We have been informed of the situation involving Adam Searl, and we take these accusations very seriously. Adam has been suspended from the team indefinitely while the legal process runs its course. Due to the ongoing police investigation, we are unable to discuss this matter further at this time.”

Searl, a junior, has been the team’s backup punter. He played in his first game of the season against Arizona State on Saturday and averaged 39.0 yards per punt.
