Current and former USC players react to Troy Polamalu’s retirement

Troy Polamalu’s retirement from the NFL spurred an outpouring of social media respect from current and former USC players.

Polamalu, an All-American safety at USC in 2001 and 2002, was an eight-time Pro Bowl player in 12 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Like all great @steelers @tpolamalu gave his ALL to the game. Next stop Canton @ProFootballHOF. #FightOn my friend. You are the best!” former USC All-American Ronnie Lott wrote.

Former USC quarterback Matt Barkley wrote, “What an unbelievable career @tpolamalu, proud of the man you are and the legacy you’ve created as a champion! #FightOn.”

“TP greatest EVER, on the field and more importantly off. I will always be amazed by the plays and yet more impressed with the person. Love you Troy,” wrote former Trojans tight end Alex Holmes, Polamalu’s brother-in-law.

“GOAT,” linebacker Scott Felix wrote, which means greatest of all time. The post was accompanied with a photo of Polamalu in his No. 43 Trojans jersey.

The Steelers selected Polamalu with the 16th pick in the 2003 draft. He intercepted 32 passes, forced 14 fumbles and had 12 sacks during his pro career.
