D'Angelo on Kobe...

Plenty of room for reporters here at the U. of Hawaii media room. Lakers almost two hours though their first practice of the season.

I'm still a little early for media interviews, but TWC SportsNet's Chris McGee (not pictured) beat me here. He wins today.

Welcome to Hawaii!

Young predicts good things from Kobe

Nick Young wasn't very swaggy last season, shooting abysmally from the court and failing to impress his legion of Lakers fans.

He's predicting a strong return in 2015-16. Not just for himself. For Kobe Bryant.

"I think he's going to play a full season. I think so", Young said Monday. "I know it's been tough on him, I know he's not used to being in situations like this. I think it was a blessing in disguise for him because I think he learned from it."

In what way? Young provided one, anecdotally.

Young saw Bryant make the rounds Monday at Lakers media day, following teammates from station to station to create short voice-overs (This is Kobe Bryant. Thanks for listening to the Lakers on ESPN 710) and brief videos for the team's broadcast partners.

"I see him going to each booth", Young said. "Normally he'd skip out after a few minutes. He's ready."

Bryant, 37, played only 41 games the last two seasons because of a multitude of injuries, including a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder that shelved him in January.

Bryant has been cleared to play and will earn $25 million this season, the final part of a two-year, $48.3-million extension he received while recovering from a torn Achilles' tendon in November 2013.

Will this be it for Kobe?

At Lakers media day on Monday, Kobe Bryant seemed unsure if this was going to be his final year or not.
