Jordan Clarkson to participate in All-Star skills challenge

Jordan Clarkson will represent the Lakers in the NBA’s All-Star skills challenge in Toronto.

The Lakers’ second-year guard will be joined by DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings), Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans), Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors), Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota Timberwolves), Isaiah Thomas (Boston Celtics), C.J. McCollum (Portland Trail Blazers) and Patrick Beverley (Houston Rockets) in the All-Star Saturday night event.

Beverley won the challenge last season. For the first time since its inception in 2003, the skills event will include frontcourt players like Cousins and Davis.

The skills challenge is a “three-round, obstacle-course competition that tests dribbling, passing agility and three-point-shooting skills,” according to the NBA’s announcement on Thursday.

Clarkson will also play in the Friday-night rookie/sophomore game, representing the American squad with teammate D’Angelo Russell. They’ll play against first- and second-year international players.

Additionally, Clarkson will also help judge the NBA Development League’s dunk contest, alongside Seth Curry (Kings) and Patrick Patterson (Toronto Raptors).

Participants include J.P. Tokoto (Oklahoma City), D.J. Stephens (Canton), Keifer Sykes (Austin), Jarvis Threat (Rio Grande Valley), Walter Lemon Jr. (Fort Wayne) and John Jordan (Toronto).

The D-Fenders will have guard Andre Ingram as an entry in the D-League’s three-point contest, against Jimmer Fredette (Westchester), Reggie Hearn (Reno), Orlando Johnson (Austin), Nick Minnerath (Canton) and Scott Suggs (Toronto).
