Lakers’ winning streak snapped in 110-91 loss to Indiana Pacers

Indiana Pacers 110, Lakers 91 (final)

The Indiana Pacers blitzed the Lakers on Monday night, ending the Lakers’ winning streak at three games.

The Pacers scored 34 points to the Lakers’ 15 in the first quarter, eventually climbing ahead by as many as 39. The Lakers played well in the second half, but the deficit was simply too high for any serious run.

Kobe Bryant scored 21 points on eight-for-26 shooting (30.8%). Nick Young added 18 off the bench as the Lakers shot 33.0% from the field. Wesley Johnson and Carlos Boozer both added 13.

Rodney Stuckey neared a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Pacers. C.J. Miles scored 18, Donald Sloan 17, C.J. Watson 12, David West 12 and Roy Hibbert 10. The Pacers hit 48.2% from the field. They also dominated the Lakers on the boards, 53-38.

Ed Davis, Jeremy Lin and Robert Sacre combined to miss all 13 of their shot attempts. The Lakers’ starting big men (Jordan Hill and Davis) collected eight rebounds together, two fewer than 6-foot-5 guard Stuckey. Boozer managed a double-double with 10 boards.

The team finishes their three-game road trip with two victories, winning in San Antonio and Minnesota.

The Lakers (8-17) don’t play again until Friday, hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder (11-13) at Staples Center. The Pacers (8-17) visit the Clippers (16-7) on Wednesday.

Pacers 89, Lakers 58 (end of third quarter)

The Lakers woke up for a strong third quarter, closing a 39-point deficit to 19 before losing steam. By the end of the quarter, the Lakers’ deficit ballooned to 31 points.

Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 21 points on eight-of-26 shooting. Fuming at the officials, Bryant received a technical foul and seemed to flirt with an ejection.

Rodney Stuckey had 20 points with 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Packers. Indiana shot 50% from the field, holding the Lakers to 25.7%.

Wesley Johnson was the only other Laker in double figures (13 points).

Pacers 60, Lakers 27 (halftime)

The Lakers hit back-to-back three-point shots from Kobe Bryant and Wesley Johnson to close the gap to 33. Yes, the Lakers were down by 39 points with a minute left in the half to the Pacers.

Indiana shot 47.8% from the field and 66.7% from three-point range (4-6), to score 60 in just 24 minutes. The Lakers managed 27 points in the same stretch, shooting a miserable 16.3% from the field (7-43).

Given the volume of Lakers’ misses, the Pacers naturally had more rebounds (33-19), but the Lakers were also soft on their offensive glass -- pulling in just three to Indiana’s six.

C.J. Miles led all scorers with 16 points. Rodney Stuckey added 10.

The Lakers got seven points apiece from Nick Young and Bryant. Bryant hit just three of 13 shots from the field. Starters Ed Davis and Jordan Hill combined to miss seven attempts.

Pacers 34, Lakers 15 (end of first quarter)

The Lakers opened up flat against the Pacers, about as flat as possible. Through the first 9 1/2 minutes, Indiana had established a 26-4 advantage.

Kobe Bryant scored the team’s first basket with 10 minutes left in the quarter. The Lakers didn’t hit a shot again for three minutes, followed by an even longer drought of five minutes. By then, the team was down by 20 points.

As a team, the Lakers shot just 15.0% from the field (3-20) while giving up 50.0% (12-24) to the Pacers.

C.J. Miles led all scorers with eight points. Rodney Stuckey added seven and David West and Roy Hibbert contributed six each.

Nick Young gave the Lakers five points off the bench.

Despite the Lakers’ poor shooting, they managed just one offensive rebounds -- giving the Pacers an 18-8 advantage on the glass.

Pregame

The Lakers (8-16) look to win their fourth in a row, visiting the Indiana Pacers (7-17) on Monday.

The Pacers have lost eight straight, dealing with a variety of injuries this year including Paul George (leg), C.J. Miles (knee), George Hill (knee) and have only recently gotten David West back from an ankle injury. Miles may play Monday.

The Lakers are still down Xavier Henry (Achilles tendon), Ryan Kelly (hamstring), Steve Nash (back) and Julius Randle (leg).
