Golden State Warriors 136, Lakers 115 (final)

The Lakers were dominated by the Warriors on Sunday night, falling to 1-9 on the season.

Kobe Bryant, playing through a viral infection, scored 44 points in just 31 1/2 minutes, hitting 15 of 34 shots from the field (44.1%), three of 12 from three-point range (25.0%) and 11 of 16 from the line (68.8%).

The one-man onslaught wasn’t nearly enough to compete with the explosive Warriors.

Stephen Curry had 30 points with 15 assists in 30 minutes. The Warriors poured in 81 points through the second and third quarters while shooting 53.5% for the game (including 50% from three-point range).

Marreese Speights (24 points off the bench) and Andrew Bogut (15 points) combined to shoot 15 for 20 from the field (75%) with 19 rebounds.

The only other Laker starter in double-scoring figures was Jordan Hill, who had 15 points along with 11 rebounds. Jeremy Lin didn’t score in 22 minutes, taking just two attempts. Jordan Clarkson and Robert Sacre added 10 each off the bench.

Ryan Kelly left after 5 1/2 minute with a right hamstring strain, a recurring issue that has kept the second-year forward sidelined for most of the season.

As a team, the Lakers shot 39.4% from the field with just seven turnovers. The offense wasn’t great but the clear issue was the team’s defense, or lack thereof. The Warriors turned the ball over 16 times, but not enough to matter in a game the Lakers trailed by as many as 38 points.

The Lakers will take to the road this week, starting with a visit to the Atlanta Hawks (5-4), followed by stops against the Houston Rockets (8-1) and Dallas Mavericks (7-3).

The Warriors are off until Friday, when they’ll host the Utah Jazz (4-7).

Kobe Bryant simply couldn’t keep pace with the Warriors.

Bryant scored 44 points in 31 1/2 minutes, the Warriors 115 in 36.

Outside of Bryant’s 15-of-34 shooting, the Lakers hit just 12 of 44 (27.3%). Jeremy Lin remained scoreless while Jordan Hill (15 points) was the only other Laker in double figures.

The Warriors, who scored 40 points in the second quarter, scored 41 in the third, to finish with a 36-point lead.

Stephen Curry has 30 points with 15 assists for Golden State. Teammate Marreese Speights added 22 off the bench.

Warriors 74, Lakers 55 (halftime)

The Lakers took a couple of pokes in the eye, specifically the eyes of Kobe Bryant and Jordan Hill -- both by Warriors forward Draymond Green.

Bryant lay on the floor until trainer Gary Vitti could stop the bleeding from a cut above Bryant’s eyes.

While Bryant was fine, the same can’t be said of the Lakers, who finished the half down by 19 points.

Bryant scored 28 points in just 19 1/2 minutes, shooting 10 of 24 from the field. Jordan Hill was the only other Laker in double figures with 13. As a team, the Lakers shot just 33.9% from the field. Point guard Jeremy Lin was scoreless on two attempts in almost 15 minutes.

The Warriors were led by Marreese Speights off the bench with 16 points in under 13 minutes.

Andrew Bogut added 15.

Golden State shot 53.1% from the field and 46.7% from long range. Stephen Curry had 13 points with nine assists.

Ryan Kelly left after just six minutes with a right hamstring strain.

The Lakers shot just 35.7% from the field, while allowing the Warriors to hit 54.2%.

Andrew Bogut converted six of seven attempts for 12 points. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 10 points.

Pregame

The Lakers (1-8) host the explosive Golden State Warriors (7-2) on Sunday night at Staples Center.

The Warriors’ backcourt of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson is extremely potent -- another difficult challenge for Jeremy Lin and Kobe Bryant, who has been battling flu-like symptoms.

The Lakers will get reserve guard Ronnie Price back from a one-game suspension because of a flagrant foul. The team will play without Wayne Ellington (personal matter), Julius Randle (leg), Steve Nash (back) and Nick Young (thumb).
