Kareem Abdul-Jabbar makes 'Splash' in celebrity diving competition

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar made his debut on the new ABC show "Splash."

With his first dive, Abdul-Jabbar survived the first week of the competition with a score of 7.25.

A brief snippet of Abdul-Jabbar's flop-flip in the "Splash" premiere can be found on YouTube.

The Milwaukee Bucks also released a clip of an Abdul-Jabbar practice dive.

The entire episode can be watched on Hulu.

Splash notched a strong 2.6 rating with adults 18-49. Keshia Knight Pulliam was the first diver eliminated from the competition.

Someone please help me establish a fund for these old sports and entertainment once-was so they would't have to demean themselves by appearing in these ridiculous reality-show type programs. What's next? Celebrity butt rubbing? It's really a shame to see people I once respected selling their souls, and their dignity, to make a buck and keep their names in circulation. Whether appearing in advertisements promoting products they would never actually use, or know anything about other than what a copywriter tells them, former "stars" like Abdul-Jabbar, and others, are only doing harm to their legacy. I know it's all about the money, but I'm old enough to remember when most respected athletes and entertainers would't be caught dead doing anything that would tarnish their legacies, or embarass their fans. Obviously, those days are long gone.
