Lakers’ Jordan Farmar not in mood to second-guess anything

This isn’t what Jordan Farmar envisioned when he terminated a lucrative pro contract in Turkey to take substantially less money with the Lakers.

He wanted to reestablish his NBA career in Mike D’Antoni’s stat-friendly offense, potentially parlaying a one-year contract into a multiyear deal.

Instead he’s shelved for four more weeks after sustaining another tear in his left hamstring Tuesday against Milwaukee.

“The season’s not over,” Farmar said, trying to remain optimistic. “There’s still a long season left even after my four weeks or whatever it’s going to be. And I have a long career left. I’m not looking at it in a negative light.”

He missed almost four weeks last month because of a different tear in the same hamstring. This tear is about six inches higher than the initial one. Lighting struck twice, more or less.

“It’s very, very rare,” Farmar said. “I don’t have any ill will or sour feelings towards the way it was handled the first time. I think the staff did a great job. We waited until everything felt great and 100%.

“It’s just an unfortunate set of events, but I’m not going to feel sorry for myself.”

Farmar, 27, was averaging 8.7 points and 4.7 assists a game before his latest injury. He’s making $884,293 this season.

Kendall Marshall will start for the Lakers on Friday against Utah. He will be the Lakers’ sixth starting point guard this season and was signed two weeks ago while playing in the NBA’s Development League.
