Steve Nash will play a 14th game this season. It probably will be his last.

Nash will suit up for the Lakers Friday night against Dallas and then be done for the rest of the season, according to the team’s most recent plan.

“This could be it tonight,” Nash said Friday morning.

He won’t play Sunday afternoon against the Clippers because it closely resembles the type of back-to-back situations Nash has avoided all season.

Jordan Farmar is expected to return on Tuesday from a groin injury, meaning Nash will leave the ball-handling duties to Kendall Marshall and Farmar for the final handful of games.

There were few positives to fall from the sky in the Nash story, though he said he found one.

“I’m in a pretty good place this year compared to last year,” he said. “I was in a dark place last playoffs when I couldn’t even sprint. I wasn’t able to sprint until late August or September. So that five months was a big deficit.”

Nash, 40, is averaging 7.3 points and 5.7 assists and is under contract for one more season for $9.7 million.

The Lakers plan to bring him back next season and see what he can deliver as opposed to waiving him by Sept. 1 and spreading out his salary over three seasons.
