Lakers forward Metta World Peace likes the new Houston Rockets.

After all, the Rockets landed his former teammate, center Dwight Howard, who will sign with the team on July 10.

But World Peace still believes in his squad, at least according to his Twitter feed.

Here’s a bit of what he had to say about the Lakers’ Western Conference rival:

Asik on the Rockets with the new guy is huge. I believe Asik can be top 5 center presence in the league. Potentially a big problem.— Metta World Peace (@MettaWorldPeace) July 7, 2013

Houston will be in the conference finals next year. Harden will probably be MVP. Two of the top 5 centers will be on the same team. But!!!— Metta World Peace (@MettaWorldPeace) July 7, 2013

Lakers will have an amazing team next year. Chemistry will click. With 24 and Gasol have 7. Rings between them and my one ring ...— Metta World Peace (@MettaWorldPeace) July 7, 2013

World Peace is referring to Kobe Bryant by his jersey number (24). Bryant is currently recovering from surgery to repair a torn Achilles’ tendon.

Of course, World Peace has to survive the July 10-16 amnesty period. The Lakers can use their one-time tax-saving tool on Steve Blake, Gasol, Bryant or World Peace.

World Peace would be the most likely to be cut, if the Lakers prefer to save money.

While the veteran forward would still receive his final year’s salary ($7.7 million), that amount would come off the team’s books, saving up to $19 million in luxury taxes.
