NBA May 5, 1969: Boston 108, Lakers 106 The Lakers, led by Wilt Chamberlin, Elgin Baylor and Jerry West (pictured at the final buzzer), were on the verge of their first NBA title since moving to Los Angeles, after six losses in the championship series to the Boston Celtics, when it happened again. Bill Russell and his over-the-hill gang pulled out a 108-106 victory in Game 7 of the 1969 Finals at the Forum when Don Nelson's 15-foot shot bounced off the back of the rim and fell through at a key moment. It was the last of the Celtics' 11 titles in Russell's 13 years.
