The Redskins led, 24-0, before the Bills finally scored in the third quarter. After Buffalo pulled within two touchdowns, Washington scored the next 13 points to take an insurmountable 37-10 lead. The outcome was never in doubt as Washington intercepted four Jim Kelly passes. Bills running back Thurman Thomas, who rushed for more than 1,400 yards during the season, was held to 13 yards on 10 carries. Gary Clark had seven catches for 114 yards and Art Monk seven for 113 for the Redskins, who had 417 yards of offense.
