The New York Mets reacquired Kelly Johnson on Wednesday, getting the utility man from the Atlanta Braves for right-hander Akeel Morris.

Johnson, 34, was hitting .215 (26 for 121) with six doubles, one home run and 10 runs batted in this season, starting 23 games at second, base, four in left field and one at first base. He was in his third stint with the Braves, who traded him to the Mets last July 24.

Texas Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton had extensive surgery on his left knee, including reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament.

The Rangers said Dr. Walt Lowe also repaired meniscus and lateral cartilage in that knee during the procedure in Houston, where Hamilton, 35, will begin rehabilitation in the next few days. It was the third time since September that Hamilton had surgery on his left knee.
